I got side tracked

Well clearly it’s been a while since I’ve written.

Where to begin?

After a two month battle to get some sort of Loan, I was finally successful. It did take a while but I am now able to get the goods I need for school. So on the Vancouver front, I have everything, a place to live, my flight and my supplies (technically not my laptop but I’m getting it delivered to Van).

My list with Andrea; well needless to say the list has been pretty successful… The one thing I never thought I would do was get a tattoo… but I did. It didn’t really bother me at all… I was actually yawning the whole time the artist was giving me the tattoo. Bored much? I think my favourite thing was our impromptu trip to wonderland. We wanted to leave early but Jeremy, whom we went with didn’t get out of bed on time. So when we got to the park, we went on one ride then a huge thunderstorm hit. All rides were shut down for 3 HOURS! What’s even crazier was we were at Top Gun and watched the skydiving tower get hit by lightening! It was crazy. After a while we began to worry that the storm would never end, but to our luck it did. We managed to hit all the good rides (some multiple times). It turned out to be an amazing day with Andrea and the boys.

So today (thursday) could potentially be my goodbye to Andrea. She might come to hamilton one night next week but you never know. Definitely when I woke up after wonderland I was feeling really depressed because I realized how close I am to leaving. I’ve already said goodbye to quite a few friends and I know this week is going to be the hardest. Particularly friday night saying goodbye to everyone.

I also finished at Erb and Ira. THANK GOD. This was a much awaited event, seeing as everyone there is crazy and like to turn on each other. I hope moving forward my next location is a little more relaxed.

Needless to say it’s going to be a busy week, I’ll try to improve on my posts but I’m never been good at this kind of thing haha.

One month today

Today marks the one month count down until my flight. I got very excited today at work. On my first break I realized in one month I will be checking into my flight at Pearson! Yes I am flying out of Pearson, Hamilton made more sense but this flight was cheaper and direct.

I’ve been getting a lot of emails from the faculty now. I feel so special. They need a headshot ha ha ha. I also found out my faculty advisor is the one prof who’s work interested me the most when I was researching the program. I’m sure they planned it that way but still really excited.

Anyways I feel like the next month is going to be a hectic one. I am still waiting for information on the money front but fingers crossed.

Ok, let’s stop a minute

STOP.

Ok, I have to stop and start writing about something other than my epic move to Vancouver. Some big whispers are going around the NBA world right now and I have to voice my opinions.

The Toronto Raptors have put in a big offer for 2 time NBA MVP Steve Nash. When I first heard this I just thought it was another rumor, but NO NO. This is big. Steve Nash coming home to Canada (the Raptors being the only Canadian team left in the NBA) would be the biggest thing to happen in Canadian national sports right now.

Steve Nash is probably one of the most well known NBA players out there and the best part about it is, that he is Canadian. The man, a whopping 38 years old, still plays with the young guns at an unbelievable level. He’s an incredible NBA player but more importantly, he is an AMAZING role model.

Now this all being said, Steve Nash coming to the Raptors would boost sales like crazy. I’ve already talked to my friend and we both agree we would buy jersey’s right away. But what will happen if he says no? The impact could be a lot worse than led on. If the Raptors don’t start stepping up their game (and making it to playoffs, much like their roommates the TML’s) we could see a major hit to the organization. Will Raptors basketball even continue down the road? Can we see the franchise being sold much like the Vancouver Grizzlies? So much is dependant on this deal!

I, for one, would love to see Nash come to the Raptors. He would be a leader, a huge impact, for the Raptors next season. And yes, I would fly back from Vancouver to see at least ONE game.

Steve, PLEASE come home to Canada where you belong. :)

Coming together

Well this week was a big week on the lines of heading to Vancouver. Wednesday I finally got registered for my courses. Looks like I’m going to have Tuesdays off. I also learned there is a desk lottery in the studio and I could be sitting beside anyone! This could be a lot of fun!
On Saturday I was in a softball tournament and may have sustained an injury that could be worse than it appears. I was playing first base and went to catch a hit and the ball took a mean bounce and smokes me in the wrist. Needless to say it is turning pretty colours. I do still have full range of movement on it, so I’m assuming it’s ok.
Anyways, on to the really big news. It happened in a matter of hours, if you can even say that! I now have a place to live just south of kits in Vancouver. I’m really excited now. Fingers crossed that I hear from the bank tomorrow with good news!!

2 Months to go!

Well today marks the 2 month mark until my program starts and this week has been filled with work, work and more work. Literally, I think I hit 42 hours this week.

Anyways I was supposed to have course selection last wednesday and of course I was very excited for that. So I’m online all ready to go and click “register all”. Guess what happens? Turns out I’m blocked from entering any of these courses. Naturally I’m confused…. After half an hour of trying I decided to make the long distance phone call. After half an hour on the phone, I finally get directed to SALA (School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture). With a quick 2 minute phone call I am informed that the registration date has been pushed back a week. I tell the lady that I was never informed of this and she said “oh dear”. Chalk one up for higher education! Needless to say I was a little frustrated but I’ve got an extra week to see if I can make my schedule less insane! :)

No Big plans yet this coming week. Andrea and I started our fast and the furious marathon but didn’t get all the way through as we were both zonked!

I’ve been spending my days cleaning and getting rid of stuff. I’m pretty proud of myself as I got rid of so many clothes that they all fit into one 3-drawer dresser.

Another week gone by

So this week I got cleared at physio for my foot, which made me very happy. Unfortunately because of the crazy games of laser tag last weekend my back is still pretty bad… I can’t really move. But that didn’t stop me this week.

Friday, Andrea and I hit the golf course. It was my first time golfing (I have been to the driving range before and hit the ball around the farm). Needless to say things didn’t go smoothly but the weather was great and I had a lot of fun. I think it’s my new zen. That night we hit Maxwell’s music house to watch Air Marshall Landing play a gig. They’ve improved so much since the last time I saw them. We spent the night with John and had a blast. It turned into a shit show of course, seeing some old friends and drinking lots.

Saturday the plan was to golf 18 but the weather didn’t really let that happen so we went to the driving range with Rich and John. Got some great pointers and by the end of the day I was hitting properly and reaching 100-150 yds. I’m proud of myself. Ha Ha Ha. Continuing on we hit sushi 99, which is on the list. We then proceeded into our Sushi comma and slept at my house for a bit. We didn’t to miss the game!

By this point John and Rich headed home as they had things to do, but Andrea and I got dressed up, and went to McMullins. It’s definitely our favourite place and we were a little over dressed but that was for going out after. Well the night sucked a little just because Miami did win… not impressed. But I drank a little too much and by the time we were at Jane Bond with Eunice, I was plastered and ready for bed. Funny thing about that. I ended up passing out on the end of my bed half naked. It was great.

Sunday was a chill day, hanging out with Andrea, we hit Menchies, Starbucks (twice) and the Grand Porch Party. Running into a few people here and there.

Needless to say the weekend was pretty epic yet again!

So far this week looks like no major plans are set but something will get knocked off the list. I have course selection on Wednesday and I am waiting to hear from the bank too. Gonna be an exciting week!

Old friends, family and just a great weekend

So I’m a little delayed in my “weekly” posts, but I think I’m going to try to write a little more frequently.

The week started out not so great with me having a freakish dream about my brother dying. I have a horridly vivid imagination and it still freaks me out to think about that dream.

Moving on! This weekend I had a car and had a great weekend with some old and new friends. Friday, Andrea and I hit up Toronto. We were on a mission and let me say, boy was it ever successful. First stop was Tall Girl at Erin Mills to find me a trench coat for BC. $160 later I’ve found a coat that I love (and I know for a fact it works because the weather was shit). Second stop was the Anthropologie at the shops at Don Mills. Now before I got there I told myself no more than $40 but unfortunately I fell in love with a dress the moment I walked in the store. $90 later, I’ve already worn the dress once and don’t regret it because it is ADORABLE. Stop number three was John’s house in Markham by the time we got there I think we spent a total of 3 to 3.5 hours in traffic. Never have I raged SO much when driving. By the time we got to John’s all I yelled was “FUCK MARKHAM” and really if you’ve ever driven through it you’ll know why.

But in the end it was all worth it. We just drank the night away. I definitely lost count into the night and was smashed. Of course I was also the first to pass out. But while at John’s I got an email from UBC on my enrollment period for classes. EXCITEMENT. I was of course the first to wake up on Saturday at an ungodly 8:30am, so I went downstairs and read my book. Eventually Andrea joined me and we decided to start cooking bacon in hopes to wake everyone up. It worked.

By noon Saturday we were on the road for the next day of activities. Back to Waterloo for some laser tag for Amalia’s birthday. I finished an amazing 25 out of 28 the first game and moved up to 19th the next. And yes some children of a very young age did beat me because I do suck that much.

We spent that night drinking at my house until the numbers dwindled down and then we hit Jane Bond. Another night I got completely trashed and was surprised when I wasn’t hungover at all again.

I impulsively drove to Mt. Hope on Sunday to visit my Nana. It’s always so nostalgic heading home and there was just something so relaxing about driving through the country.

I wrapped up Sunday watching the NBA game with Andrea. It’s just all been so amazing. I love the people I have in my life right now and I am just loving LIFE right now
